Dezi’s Greek Baked Meatballs

Budget friendly and family favourite, with this awesome Greek meatballs recipe, we call these sou-zou-ka-kyia. So yummy & comforting. You can serve them with roast potatoes & steamed broccoli or steamed rice.

TIP I freeze my mince flat so it’s quicker to defrost

Greek Meatballs recipe

Ingredients:
500ml sugo sauce
500-800g fresh mince meat
FINELY grated veggies :
1 medium carrot
1 grated broccoli stalk or 1 small zucchini (optional)
1 large handful flat parsley (optional)
1 chopped brown onion
1 finely grated garlic clove
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup fine semolina (can use all breadcrumbs if you like)
( add a little more breadcrumb if mixture feels too wet)
Season with; Salt, pepper,
a dash of cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg.
Mix all together with your hands

4 medium potatoes
3/4 cup of water
Salt
Pepper
Olive oil

Method:
Put some olive oil in your baking dish
Roll into oval shapes & line up.
Pour over the sugo sauce.
Scatter thinly cut wedges of potatoes (I used 4 medium dutch cream)
Add 3/4 of a cup of water into the baking tray.
Drizzle potatoes with olive oil and season with salt and Greek dried oregano
Bake for an hour in a preheated 200/210°C oven uncovered.
